Winners of the First Edition of the " Romanian Diplomacy Annual Awards " - January, 2003

The first edition of the " Romanian Diplomacy Annual Awards " was held on January 24th 2003, at the George Enescu Museum in Bucharest. The event was attended by Prime Minister Adrian Nastase, by representatives of the diplomatic community accredited in Bucharest, by numerous personalities of Romanian social and cultural life, as well as by foreign correspondents and representatives of mass media.

The following prizes were awarded:

  • Award for "Ambassador of the Year" - H.E. Mr. Sorin Ducaru, Ambassador of Romania to the United States
  • Award for "Foreign Policy Analyst of the Year" - Mr. Bogdan Chireac, deputy editor-in-chief, Adevarul Newspaper
  • Award for "Diplomatic Correspondent of the Year" - Mrs. Dana Spinant, PRO TV correspondent in Brussels
  • Award for "New Generation Diplomats" - Ms. Alina Padeanu, Third Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Award for "Negotiator of the Year" - Mr. Cristian Diaconescu, Secretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Award for "Innovative Diplomacy" - Mr. Doru Costea, Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Award for "Diplomacy through Culture" - Mr. Ioan Holender, Director of the National Opera in Vienna and Mr. Eginald Schlattner, ethnic German writer, Evanghelist priest in Rosia - Sibiu district
  • Award for "Diplomacy through Sports" - Mr. Ion Tiriac, President of the Romanian Olympic Committee
  • Award for "Partners of Romanian Diplomacy" - "George C. Marshall" Association, Director Mr. Doru Frunzulica
  • Award for "Romania's Image through Business" - Renault Company - Romania
